got to see them in spring of 1972, they were great, sat on 3rd row. they were so loud seemed the walls were shaking, could not hear for 3 days after concert. before they came out, there was a screen above the stage, you see a train coming from the distance and when it got to front they came out. Jo Jo Gun was the opening act. it was one I will never forget.
'Four legs good, two legs baaaad." ---------------------------------------------- "Jimmy, some of it's magic, Some of it's tragic, But I had a good life all the way." (Jimmy Buffett)
So many that should have been in the Hall of Fame years ago. How the hell are Blue Oyster Cult, Foreigner, Uncle Ted and Ronnie James Dio NOT in there? They'd rather induct rap and country.
Hated to see this thread die so quickly. Wondering how many folks that like down to earth raw hard rock that haven't heard many of the GF songs that never got radio time. Bass, Guitar & drums, couple singers, the hard workers.
Seems like Foot stompin music, Time Machine, American Band & Closer to home is about all I remember hearing on the radio. There were many other good ones IMO. This is the first album album, titled On Time.
I wore that gold colored album right out, my parents were so sick and tired of it!
Pure raw Rock and Roll.
Lol, they got sick and tired of Uriah Heep too.
GFR is my all time favorite band. Demons & Wizards is a really good album by UH.
Wow, 2 great calls. Uriah Heap was not common but they were one of my favorites.
I saw Grand Funk at the ostrich festival in Chandler, Arizona. It was included in the cost of the festival. They didn’t start playing until almost 8:00 and I was ready to go home at 6:00. My daughter convinced me to stay and I’m glad I did, probably the best concert I have been to.
Max Carl was the lead singer then and they were superb. They had a drum solo that seemed like a 1/2 hour long, but I’m sure it was closer to 5 minutes, but he tore it up.
3 Dog Night isn’t in the RnR Hall of fame either but Sly And the Family Stone made it, so who even cares?
