OK, I'll guess 1928 30-30 on the rifle. LOL
Isn't the case just a generic leg-o-mutton case available for various applications? Nice shape all the way around!

Betting it's period correct to the gun, but I don't think it's one that Savage sold. Here's the 1928 cases from the catalog, and I've seen a couple cases that match their case.
“ The Savage 99 Pocket Reference”. All models and variations of 1895’s, 1899’s and 99’s covered. Also dates, checkering, engraving.. Find at www.savagelevers.com

Based on barrel length, I’m guessing the case was designed for a double barrel shotgun.
