First ones, from an audiologist, were $3500 eleven years ago. He told me at the time, “If you leave them where a dog can find them they will get chewed up.” I never did. I got new ones at Costco 5 years ago for $1400. Been very happy with them, especially when they replaced them at no charge when I lost them swimming. I thought they were going bad or my hearing was getting worse so went in to Costco to check it out, hoping I didn’t need new ones. Girl there took them, checked them out, brought them back said, “Try them now.” Worked great, my hearing restored! She then proceeded to very patiently instruct me in how to do a better job cleaning the little microphone ports. I would not hesitate to recommend Costco for hearing aids.

If you haven't had hearing aids for a couple of years, you will be amazed at the difference bi-core technology can make. I have the Rexton brand from Costco and it comes with a recharger you drop them into each night. The recharger hold 3 days charge so if you don't have electricity you can still charge them for 3 nights.

I have also lost my hearing aids in the past and Costco replaced them free. I believe there is a 2 year limit on that replacement program, though.

And yes, they will retest you and adjust your hearing aids to your current hearing levels whenever you want them to - no charge.

Contact your local VA clinic and schedule an appointment or you can download the forms off the internet and send them in. Apparently you can get premium hearing aids through the VA cost free. Expect a wait to see a specialist.

Last time I got some, my Medicare Advantage was going to pay part of it. Even with that, the cost would have been far higher than Costco and wouldn't have had the support that Costco gives. They would only pay for 2 adjustments while Costco will adjust them for nothing as long as you have them.

Your wife and you are correct; Steve is wrong. Costco has superior technology than any audiologist I ever went to. In fact, some audiologists are just quacks hiding behind the title, and their stuff is marked up 5 fold. Now if I could just find a place that makes eyeglasses correctly...

I got some made by Bose a while ago. They work very well and I like having them when I'm in a situation where I need good hearing. But otherwise, I've gotten used to the world being quiet. I don't keep them on most of the time--too much loudness.

I am at a point in my life where how much a set of hearing aids costs is not a top consideration, I can buy the best if necessary. After some shopping around I chose Costco.

No experience with their hearing aids. However, dealing with their blue tooth and wireless computer stuff, Jabra gear was always GTG when I dealt with it.

Only caveat I will offer is rechargeable vs battery. If your rechargeable goes dead in the middle of something important, you're SOL. With battery units, you just pop in a new battery. I always replace batteries as a matter of course if I am prepping for something I do not want to risk a dead hearing aid.

If you have profound hearing loss, let’s say 80db or worse in the conversational frequency range, don’t go to a hearing aid dispenser, go to a good audiologist. And ask if a cochlear implant would be better for you.

A hearing aid dispenser, even one at Costco or Sam’s, or even many audiologists, are in the business of selling hearing aids, the more the merrier. They don’t have an incentive to steer you away from them.

A cochlear implant can be life changing.

Another vote for Costco. After years of spending $3000 for a pair of aids from the local hearing aid stores e.g., New Sound, Miracle Ear etc. I went to Costco and was fitted with a pair of Kirkland hearing aids (Signature 10.0T).
They are the best hearing aids I have ever owned in thirty years I have been wearing aids. The examination was very thorough and the customer service was outstanding. All of that for a little under $1500 out the door. I have been wearing them for a couple years. Blue tooth capable, I paired them to my I-Phone and make and receive phone calls hands free. I also listen to music, news,.........

Plus, I loaded an app on my phone that allows me to adjust volume, modulate noise, and tailor to restaurant environment. TV, streaming music and turn them off when the mother-in-law visits.

I don’t believe Costco ever made their own hearing aids. They contracted with another major manufacturer and put their Kirkland brand on them. 8 years ago I went to 3 different audiologists and demo’d their aids. Then I went to Costco. The hearing technician there got the same hearing test results as the others. The Costco aids, in my estimation, were better for my hearing than two other makers and the same as the third. Not perfect but the same or better as others. They were close to half the cost of the others and the service and support have been great. I can adjust mine from my phone if needed. I’m still using the original pair but they have replaced a couple of wires. There’s never been any charge for service, adjustments, or cleaning. I’ll stay with Costco for my next pair. Oh…and Steve’s full of 💩!

Yes, the ones I have are actually Phonak hearing aids rebranded to Kirkland. I have had Phonak aids in the past and they were top notch. I'm pretty sure the Costco prices for the same hearing aids are significantly cheaper than buying the Phonak brand from one of the hearing aids businesses.
