Gotta keep the drama going. news tonight implied at least at the bar he had an intended victim. who knows also said family reported him to authorities both police and military for hearing voices , spokesman for the police said he was aware of the "yellow flag" issue but wouldn't comment on it. He went to some elaborate effort to not get shot after leaving a suicide note. Why have a getaway car/jet ski/whatever setup if your suicidal? Not that I'm going to try to rationalize the thoughts of a someone hearing voices.

The North Pond Hermit evaded LEO searches and all human contact for 27 years. Living in the woods of The Belgrade Lakes.
Not saying this Card guy is there or even attempting to do that, never mind speculating whether or not he’s capable of doing that; just saying that guy was and did.

that North Pond Hermit story is amazing, I've read various versions of it and I am always fascinated at how he survived those winters. Stealing propane was a big part of it but still, the guy survived some pretty extreme temps. I wonder what he is doing today?
just googled him - he has his own place and works in an auto shop as of 2019. Probably loved covid.

The impunity part is a tough call. It's easy to judge engineering standards for sizing/installing anchor bolts (or the failure to do so) then to judge the motives of an unstable person. I'm sure many of them have developed skills to help hide their instabilities.
...yet, he still had access and committed what everyone feared. He made threats to shoot up the National Guard Armory, how do you hide the intent to do that after you said you were going to? I understand some folks will still look for a way to get a gun illegally. But the punishment for illegally transferring a gun should be severe and unequivocal. Make the pain so high that the cost to buy a hot gun skyrockets and gets extremely selective. Jeff Cooper said this too; "If violent crime is to be curbed, it is only the intended victim who can do it. The felon does not fear the police, and he fears neither judge nor jury. Therefore what he must be taught to fear is his victim." and he was correct.
To preserve liberty it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.-Richard Henry Lee

Look how much pain, suffering, anguish, fear, panic one man caused with semi-auto version of an assault rifle. The costs associated with terror attack has been tremendous and he has not been caught yet. Stricter control on availability of certain weapons and especially ammo will make such terror attacks more difficult to carry out in the future. The price of freedom is high. When you have freedoms people abuse them. There's a hell of a lot more people killed in automobiles accidents, automobile accidents involving drunk driving and now "impaired driving" which means cell phones than are killed with firearms. Are we going to ban autos, liquor and cell phones? We tried booze a hundred years ago, that didn't work out to well. Politicians prefer unarmed peasants. He's intentionally baiting us. Just ignore him. He'll get tired of it and go away.

When you live in Northern New England, and have spent winters in those places, and are familiar with the woods he was living in year round, it absolutely defies all Comprehension or plausibility. If I didn’t know it was fact, I’d never believe it.

It's a small number of deaths compared to the lives saved daily by defensive firearm usage. Difference is that one gets more air time than the other. Leave people with their 2A rights alone. Nothing needs changed except for more freedom.

Hop in a boat, head to rendezvous with FBI, but Tater head wasn't as dumb as an FBI Agent. He had a second vehicle at boat launch, cut the boat loose, got in the car, and tooled down I95 smoother than a Prom Queens thighs. As the LEO's got eaten by ticks and skeeters. Now, what did Biden do while our attention was diverted to this circus?

During the summertime, the mosquitoes in Maine could suck a man dry in an hour. Those suckers are the size of your thumbnail!
It definitely sounds like he had an exit plan. You get into the northern parts of Maine and it's pretty unpopulated timber country, if he headed that way. Either that or he offed himself where he wouldn't be easily found.
