Allright gents…
Myself and a couple bros are gonna sign up and give this event a whirl.
Have never shot any type of competition like this.
We are attending an orientation to go over the usual safety measures and then will be allowed a practice run or two I think
The email said bring:
Scoped rifle Removable bipod Elbow and knee pads Rear or barricade bags
I guess there are a few different “stages” at 25-50-100 yards shooting various steel targets
Can you guys shed any light on rifle/scope preferences esp as it relates to changing parallax settings on the fly? Advantages/disadvantages of fixed power vs adjustable?
I assume bipod will need to be removed and replaced “quickly” on the different stages as well?
Basically if you’ve shot this before feel free to unload anything you’ve learned about gear or tactics
Much obliged!
She never made it past the bedroom door, what was she aiming for...? She's gone shootin..

I just got set up for it this year, but won't shoot a match till spring. I bought a set of targets, a couple props and we've been practicing some of the CoFs and it is challenging: Their site is very, very, good and they list previous CoFs and the one they'll shoot for that month. https://nrl22.org/CoFs: https://nrl22.org/downloads/There's also multiple YouTube videos where match guys will pre-shoot that Months CoF.

You will not have time to adjust objective for every shot. Adjust before shooting to a mid range and go for it. It is fun and challenging. Most all use a bolt action, but I use a Volquartsen semi-auto. The semi-auto gives you more time with not working the bolt. To each his own. Our gun club was very concerned with ricochets. We have halted shoots for now. Have fun.

I run a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25, an Arca rail. I chose my bags based on the stage. Most stages don't need bipod

We shall see how it goes this Saturday Good Luck & Have Fun! We've been acquiring "props" for a while now, the NRL22 guys makes it easy as they have a list of standard props and even some plans to build them. One thing I did for practice to cut down on ricochets and be able to see misses was to add AR500 IDPA TGT hangers to my NRL22 stands: I run my TGTs along my dam road, so no individual backstop per TGT. It made it difficult to spot misses and get used to the wind offset at distance with the.22LRs. So when it's windy I break out my TGT backers.

I’ve shot a couple NRL22 events but been more active the last couple years with PRS-22 events I’ve run.8-10 the last few years. The rifle is not a biggie for your first few events. I started with my CZ 453 Varmint with a SWFA SS 10x optics. I later upgraded the scope to a NF SHV F1 4.5-14x and used that combo for a while. I have since moved to a B-14R with Athlon Ares scope. My B-14r went down and ran a few matches with my 10/22.
Unless you’re getting into it stay cheap. A better choice would be to squad with you buddies and get one decent rifle between the lot of you and share it. You’re not going to overheat it. You’ll find guys bending over backwards to help you!
Good Luck!!
