Yesterday I was driving home from a trip to San Antonio on an I-10 frontage road. Rain went off the charts to where I could not drive. I happened to be close to one of my LGS's so I dropped in to let the rain pass. I found this in the case with a $595 New Model next to it. It appeared little fired. Home it came. Dates to 1959 with the 4 5/8" ones pretty hard to find.

That’s a great find. Good luck you stopped.
I think I’ve read that if you send it to Ruger that they’ll retrofit it with a transfer bar at no cost.

Nice little Ruger. Would you happen to know if they got that rain up in Comfort ?

That looks like a very fun little gun. Be a good one to keep a pack or bag for impromptu pine cone shoots and other such activities.

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

It looks ok, but newer ones have adjustable rear sights, can take .22 Mag cylinder and can be had in SS which allows some more leeway in maintenance. Old guys say because they not bored. 22lr/.22wrm they are little more accurate. Biggest plus is probably fact that this was made when they used to have factory QC which they seem to now lack? Then again Ruger fans do not seem to mind sending in guns for repairs or warranty work.

Can we vote Slavek off the island? Did you know that blackened carbon steel Ruger pistol slides rust easily, almost like antique uncoated spikes?

Can we vote Slavek off the island? I’m beginning to wonder if he’s ever actually held a firearm. He’s like the one kid that always insisted on pizzing on the campfire

Nice little Ruger. Would you happen to know if they got that rain up in Comfort ? They should have. I hope to get out and shoot it next week.

Plenty of tin cans need holes in them. Nice score:)

Dad's oldest friend had one way back when. I didn't get a chance to shoot it, as EdM's Dart was built before he sold it. Dad did, though, and when I found a new model convertible back in the '80's for $140, he bought it. It's my favorite .22 pistol I dread ever having in my home for good.

The Dart was sold before I bought it. It still resides in the garage.
