Looking for opinions on a lightweight hunting scope. This will be mounted on a Rem Model Seven in .243, used a couple times a year for hunting a couple more for bench. Occasional walk and when the mood strikes to grab vs. other options.
Coyotes and varmints only, under 300 yards (more than likely under 50 in Northern MN). Would like to stay $500 or less on budget. Nothing messy on the reticle.
I have multiple 2-7, 2.5-8, 3-9, 2-10, 2.5-10, 3.5-10, 4.5-14 etc. in Leupold and a few in Burris. Just thought I would see if anyone else has a good option. Thank you, opinions are great and if you have one for sale even better.
Thanks, Kyle.

What weight is lightweight to you? It has very different meanings for folks.

And to expand on what Paul said above, do features such as FFP reticles and exposed turrets interest you? Or do you prefer to ‘set it and forget it’?

If you’re in the dialing camp, swfa 3-9 is the lightest I know of at 19oz, followed closely by Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x42 which is about 21oz.

For set it and forget it, I’m not really the guy to answer. I think there’s a SWFA 2.5-10 that weighs 9.5oz, but beyond that I’ve no idea.

I also have a model 7FS in 243. For Wisconsin coyotes and deer.
Went with a Leupold 3x9. Not sure what model, but smaller objective, fitted to the rifle about 30 years ago. Has worked well, and has been used by lots of newer hunters in our group who like it's size and weight.

I also have a model 7KS in .350 I scoped with a Leupold 1.5x5 heavy duplex crosshairs. Works well on this rifle but have found myself wishing for more magnification and standard crosshairs when trying to shoot it at a bench at 200 or 300 yards.

Will be interesting to see what others suggest.

Either of these two would be my 1st choice. I have (and use) three of each on my small collecton.

I've been buying Meoptas the last couple three years and have to say I really like them so far. Not terribly familiar with the models available yet but of the 5 or 6 I have they are great scopes. Everything from the Meosports to the Meostars has worked great and bright optics.

Set and forget it is probably the best way to explain the style for this rifle. No exposed turrets required or FFP reticles, this will be an offhand or off sticks shooting rifle that you will not have more than seconds to shoot.
My other scopes to compare to that I consider are lightish, and maybe not lightweight are running 13-16 ounces.
Thanks for the responses so far, I by no means have a shortage of scopes to compare to, just wondering if I am missing out on something. I have a couple dozen options for scopes sitting on the shelf and not bashful to buy more if it would suit the need better.

What you have will work just fine. Why the need to buy more? Sounds like you don't use what you already have. Your requirements are very slim. Not shooting far, so you don't even need a reticle with hash marks. Keep it simple, use what you already have.

For a set and forget situation like you are describing when light weight is a prime consideration the Leupold 2-7 Ultralight or VX-III 2.5-8 are hard to beat IME. Not the greatest glass and maybe a bit of an adventure to get zeroed but they have served me well.

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.

I know this will be considered heresy. Having lived near Detroit Lake and hunted fox and coyotes(calling) and deer in the Orr area. I'm really partial to 1-4, 1.5-6 and 2-12 scopes. If you wouldn't have thrown in a couple bench sessions I have suggested the the Elite 4500 1-4 that is on sale for $134, awesome scope I just put one on my coyote calling rifles. For a single scope the Athlon Argos 2-12 makes a great calling scope with the Xs to reach out there and punch paper, I have 3.on hunting rifles.

How about something like the Elite 4500 1-4 AND something like a Burris FF in a 4-16 and a.couple.sets of Monstrom QD rings, you should be able to do that for under $500. I use Monstrom rings both QD and their tacticals and have had great luck with them.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

This or the Credo 3-9

Or the Huron 3-9x40. Trijicon has a lot of solid hunting scopes these days.

Aside from Trijicon, the Leupold 3-9x40 or 2-7x33 (Huntplex, not rimfire) or Burris 3-9x40 are all good options and it seems the OP already has a few of those.

My vote would be for the Trijicon Huron 3-9x40. I own two and they're great.

I've got a weatherby ultralight that at one time I had a little 3-9x33 Leupold ultra light scope on. scope never really give me any trouble and it done its job. but I got the wanting something maybe a bit brighter in low light levels.
so then I put on a 3-9x40 Zeiss conquest and it's heavier but it's by no means a heavier scope but I honestly can't really tell much difference when I'm packing up...

I guess the moral of this story is lightweight can be a relative term
