I bought one of the early models at a Long's Drugs that was closing down many years ago. They had it marked down from $279.95 to $200.00. I've never been a handgun guy but have nothing against short guns. I bought several extra magazines and a box of ball ammo, shot the ammo and put the gun away. I just ran onto it recently and fired a magazine off. The gun is kind of square feeling, but it sure shoots accurately. I'll make it my glovebox gun. Anyone else still use the P series Rugers?

I have one in stainless. It was stolen from me in Kodiak in 1997. It was returned to me a few months ago. Tough as nails and dead nuts reliable. Clunky feeling but comfortable. Accurate as it needs to be. They bring pretty good money on the used market.

These usually bring about $300+/50 depending on specific model, caliber and condition. It used to have an appeal in American Hoods. I do not understand the appeal. My 👐 are large enough to handle a SiG P250 which I would pick instead.

i do not care for the decock version. They are still very well made and over built and tough as nails. I have shot one and would buy one if I found one as a deal.

The first Ruger P series pistol was a P85. They launched it in the late 80s. It's been a while and I am aging, but I remember a torture test they did on one. Details may be imperfect. They shot thousands of rounds without cleaning it. They submerged it in saltwater. They started cutting away pieces of the slide until they had cut half of it off. All the while shooting it and achieving 100% reliability. They plugged the barrel and fired it remotely. All it did was bent the extractor. They hammered the extractor back into place and fired hundreds more rounds without issue. With an internet search of "Ruger P85 P89 Torture Test" you can find references to bits and pieces of the test.

Had one twenty five years ago when I had fewer handguns so it got shot quite a bit. Maybe 5k plus rounds before we parted ways. As already stated, very stout and completely reliable. Some interesting design divergences like the polymer used and the ejector configuration. Neat guns.

This is the wayward P-95. Stolen from my residence in 97 in Kodiak AK. Recovered in Oklahoma in 2022. Sent from OK back to Kodiak, then from Kodiak to my local sheriff's department. I picked it up a few months ago. Shot it last weekend. Flawless.

I also had a P-90 45. I put a Hogue grip on it. It was extremely comfortable to shoot. I was going to make it my service sidearm when I started working as a reserve deputy, but opted for a Beretta 92 instead. I sold the P-90. Dumb.

Had a P345. Loved it, sold it in a moment of weakness for another shiny toy.
Cousin has it now. Hope to talk him out of it one of these days.
Somewhere out there is an article, I believe by John Taffin on these. From what I recall he liked it as good as any semi auot out there. Could have been a different author too.

Kinda have a ghetto gun reputation, but also for being rugged and reliable. If that frame is made from the same stuff as .22/45 frames, it’s tough stuff for certain.
What fresh Hell is this?

Just picked up a 345 .45 for really cheap. I'll report back.
Bangflop! another skinning job due to .260 and proper shot placement.
