Heading to Northern Wisconsin early in the am. Usually hunt mid to late October but trying a November hunt this year. Hopefully get into the Woodcock too! Will give my 20ga 26" Ruger Red Label a workout.
So far, rough going. Cold weather and little snow may have messed things up in the short term. Flush rate is about 20% of what it usually is (10 vs 50 per day). We've been hunting hard and busting brush when needed. I haven't taken a shot yet but my buddy has had 2 shots, harvested 1 ruff. Oh and the woodcock are gone, likey flew right over and kept heading south. Better luck tomorrow!
I have a place in West side of Price co. We were there 2 weeks ago an flushed a few. I didnt get a shot but my son flushed 5 , shot at 3 and ended up with none. He used to be better. They are there , maybe just a little down from last year but not my much.

Was relatively slow as far as bird numbers we saw. Hiked 5 miles the first half day, 10 Thursday, and almost 12 Friday. I'm beat! But hunters that were out the week prior saw lots of birds so the weather change may have messed us up somewhat. Here's a red phase and a grey phase we got on the last day.
