Blazing Saddles played several months ago on Turner Classics. To my astonishment it was not censored. Screen shot

That was one of EE's favorite movies. He actually accidentally sent me two copies of it. He sent one copy, then about a year later forgot he sent it to me and sent another one.

Wow, what a great find! One of my all time favorite movies, tks.
In particular the Irish actor Jonathan Rys-Davis absolutely disappears into the role of the psychopath Pit Maxton.
Would they make this again? Prob’ly not, even back then, even it’s among the best movies ever made it bombed at the box office

Revisionist history films have a limited appeal.
The film cost 38M and only grossed $635,000.

For enthusiasts of cap and ball revolvers, it's a hoot.
Lots of depictions of close quarters combat featuring almost entirely their use, most carrying three or four of them.
I think that was an accurate depiction. The cap and ball revolver mostly replaced swords and bayonets for that purpose by the time of the Civil War. Soldiers, especially guerilla fighters, tended to carry as many of them as they could get their hands on and could fit on their belts and saddles.
