Earlier this year i was in bass pro, wanting to use some of my credit card points on another rifle. I wanted a Winchester model 70 featherweight in 308win but they didn't have one. I've read so much online about the accuracy of tikkas, and they had a stainless t3x in 308, so I brought it home, along with a new leupold 3-9×40 scope. I zeroed it with some fed blue box 150gr, it shot great, I cleaned the barrel and put it away. Fast forward to yesterday and one of my grandsons is here to deer hunt. He has his ruger hawkeye, also in 308win, which I'd given him a couple years ago. I sent him into my gun room to grab a couple boxes of 308 ammo so we could check his zero. I mentioned the tikka and in no time he comes out carrying the tikka and a box of 150gr barnes ttsx and a box of nosler 150gr etips. That tikka shot both sub moa, touching 2 of the 3 bullets fired. I was pleasantly surprised. My grandson was ecstatic. So much so that I traded him the tikka for the hawkeye. He talked about the tikka all day yesterday and today until he and his family headed home. Nothing like the feeling it gives a grandpa to see the sheer joy on the face of one of your grandkids.

That's awesome hotsoup. I'd imagine the Tikka shoots much better than the Ruger. The trigger is probably substantially better too. Your grandson probably likes the lighter weight of the Tikka as well. I like the Ruger 77's, and have hunted with them a lot, but they take a lot of fine tuning to make them truly great. Your grandson is going to really like that Tikka.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Love it. Good luck hunting and having fun, to you and the boy!
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.
