I spent time with some Jordan Montana cowboys Judd and Jay Twitchell.
I was such a babe in the woods back then.
They left a mark.

Hell Creek Bar.

Amazing that Grizzlies once roamed out across the plains most likely following the breaks and bison. Farming and ranching sure buggered the plains.

Grizzlies in the arctic have the same kind of behavior with the Caribou today.

Colter.

Wasn’t that many years back Ekalaka had more than its share of rough riders.
I’d also nominate nearly each winner of the wild horse race in the old days of Cheyenne.

I think I’ve told this here before buy I was shooting a couple spreads maybe 25 years ago and they were part of a cattleman’s assoc. that had a very large tract of land as well. They had an old boy staying way out in a nowhere trailer riding fence and eyeing stock. The old timer was thrown from his horse and landed back in a cactus patch.
He never came out or sought help, he hooked up a razor on a stick and would shave his back as the cactus would fester out. Said it wasn’t the pain but a big bother having his shirt hang up on the cactus in his back that bothered him.
That’s a tough ol boy.

Judd was a top bronc rider in his younger days. The Twichells were good people.
My dad owned the Hell Creek bar in the early 60's.
Very nice antelope.
Do you remember Stubies cabin at the Twichell's ranch?
If I remember right Stubie had a old horse that he didn't think would make the winter.
He led the horse up close to the cabin door and shot him. Than he could go out a cut a steak off him when needed.
Had his winter meat. smile
