My rifle came in this past weekend. Between Gunner and Magnum Bob they are getting me squared away.

Very nice. A little fancier than my .50-90 Business Rifle. It is on the left below. That is sunlight in the middle of the stock

You know the thing about really nice wood is you absolutely never get tired of it. Hold it at a different angle and it's different view. Scott that dog will hunt with class. Mb

I've thought a lot about ordering one of those, to go with my .45-90 Shiloh smile

The kiss by the sun is the proper christening of a beautiful rifle.
I have a .50-2.5 that I spent better than a quarter century behind sending over 25,000 600 plus grain bullets down range and I have failed on the misses and not Calamity. It shows usage marks, not safe marks.
Treat it well and it will return a smile brighter than the sun kiss on that wood.

Nice! I think one would have to go to Europe to obtain comparable wood to metal fit.

Stopped by the factory on a Friday a couple weeks back and no one was in that day. Bummer, as it's a bit of run for me that I don't do very often.

Stunned that your stock is “extra fancy”!
Would’ve sworn that was “exhibition”

Thank you for all of the comments. I have been assembling some bits and pieces and am pretty close to getting it out. Rain has been near constant for me, but I have most everything I need to put some loads together soon. Magnum Bob and Gunner have been a huge help in making it a solid project.

It is truly about like learning to reload all over again with this one.

Well, I think I finally got the sights regulated where they are supposed to be in order to get the ladder to regulate. Basic gist is about 5" high at 100 yards, so you 6 O'Clock hold it on targets. Well, today was overcast with some snow flurries.

I used Montana Bullet Works 700 grain Gov't bullet, 110 grains of Swiss 1.5F in Starline brass with CCI200's.

1st three went left quite a bit. I got out the hammer and punch and drifted the front sight to the left.

Shot the next 3...

Well, I felt good about the windage, so I fired another 3 just to make sure..

Well, now I was wondering what was going on, cause I should have been higher on elevation.. I cranked off another 3 rounds and had them all at the bottom of the plate.

So I got out the file started filing..

When I think I had enough, I fired three. Didn't clean between, just long enough to eject the empty and hammer another in the chamber.

I shot this, packed my bags and called it good enough for today.

Some perspective. 35 Whelen and 308 on the flank...

Beretzs,

That's the same bullet I settled on in my 50. I used 120 grns of Goex Express FG, so its 50-120-700. I've taken animals up to around 700 pounds with it, and only recovered 1 bullet, that from a blue wildebeest at 217 yards. The bullet broke and shattered bone for around 9 inches (shoulder and vertebrae ) and came to rest under the off side hide.

Have fun!

Regards,
Manny

Thanks for the heads up Manny. It seems like a darned good commercial bullet and it is certainly accurate.

Any pictures of the recovered bullet?

I am using Swiss 1.5F in my loads, so we probably aren't too far away from one another.
