I've got an oddball(to me) rifle that I can't seem to find much information on. It's stamped as a 264-tur-belt-mag, and doing my research I've come across almost nothing, just that it seems based on the 300 H&H Magnum, according to this Italian site: https://www.earmi.it/a-enciclopedia/calibri/calibri%201.htm
Quote
.264 Tur-Belt Magnum == wildcat; bossolo siglato W-W- SUPER ; 300 H&H MAG
Wondering if anyone knows anything about this caliber, what would be used for reloading dies, what TUR stands for, etc? Thanks

At the very least, first thing I would do is chamber casting to get an idea of what you are dealing with.

Brownells sells the material and has directions for a chamber cast. Be the best route to see if you want to re-chamber, have die's made or, re-barrel to a cartridge that matches the bolt face diameter.

Off hand, if I wanted a 6.5 belted mag, I would consider a decent 26" barrel in 264 WM , they do shoot and the 26 was the basis for the original factory Win data.

Thanks, had ordered some cerrosafe and a smelting pot but hadn't recieved it yet. I don't really want to do anything to the rifle, was given to me with the deal that if I could figure it out I could keep it, but I think I'm the 3rd or 4th to try that..

Anything else I should measure?

How do those dimensions compare to a "standard" 264 belted mag?

Hold a 264 Win Mag, a 7mmRem Mag, or a 338 Win Mag up next to it.

I would bet a 264 Win mag would clean it up as I look to it. I have a brand new 264 Win Mag reamer. If it were here it would be a quick job.

nothing in my book about it, it looks like an H&H taper, what I would try is neck a 300 H&H down to .264, see if it will chamber, if it will prime the case, charge it with 12-13 gr. of unique, fill with corn meal, hold your finger over case mouth and tap on the bench to settle, take one square of toilet paper, twisted into a worm and pack in the casemouth tight. fire it. Do it twice to 3 cases. with those cases redding or rcbs one will make you a set of dies.

NEVERMIND CASE IS NOT LONG ENOUGH FOR AN H&H

264 Win Mag won't chamber in it

Yeah, both this and the 264 Win Mag are 2.5" cases, pretty similar for the most part, but not quite close enough

This cartridge
Bullet diameter .264 in (6.7 mm)
Neck diameter .303 in (7.6 mm)
Shoulder diameter .460 in (12.5 mm)
Base diameter .516 in (13.1 mm)
Rim diameter .538 in (13.5 mm)
Case length 2.5 in (64 mm)

300 H&H Mag
Shoulder diameter .450 in (11.4 mm)
Base diameter .513 in (13.0 mm)
Rim diameter .532 in (13.5 mm)
Case length 2.850 in (72.4 mm)

264 Win Mag
Bullet diameter .264 in (6.7 mm)
Neck diameter .299 in (7.6 mm)
Shoulder diameter .491 in (12.5 mm)
Base diameter .515 in (13.1 mm)
Rim diameter .532 in (13.5 mm)
Case length 2.5 in (64 mm)

375 H&H Mag
Shoulder diameter .448 in (11.4 mm)
Base diameter .513 in (13.0 mm)
Rim diameter .532 in (13.5 mm)
Case length 2.850 in (72.4 mm)

Based on those measurements, I think you can purchase or rent a 264 WM reamer and clean up that chamber by reaming it out to 264 WM. Should work great at that point.

according to your measurements if you turn the neck of a 264 winny case it should chamber. get 1 to chamber you can make the 3 cases and have dies made

Shoulder diameter is 31 thou smaller on your gun, not likely you will chamber a 264 win mag.
Pretty odd alright. usally when someone starts messing with the chamber it gets bigger, never smaller.

I would open it up to a standard 264, unless you have rules preventing you from doing so
