I normally use either Federal or CCI LRP in my 308 and 6.5x55 but am having a hard time finding them. But I can get GINEX primers but have never used them. Anybody got any experience with them? Is it worth my time to lay in 1000 of them while continuing to look for CCI or Federal?

I wouldn't hesitate to give them a try. I have some Ginex SRPs that perform identically to CCI 450s in my .308. Same accuracy, velocity and SDs with identical powder charge in side by side testing at 1000 yards.

If the LRPs are like the SRPs there are some different varieties. They have a webpage where you can view the differences.

I got some Ginex large rifle about 4 years ago when Graf's was closing them out. The cups are a BCH larger & pretty stiff, so seating them in tight new brass would be tough. I managed to get some seated in used brass with difficulty. Many were flattened by the time it was done. All fired without incident & velocities were about normal with reasonably good SD & ES.

I've been using them to get a few extra firings on cases with less than snug pockets. They work & are useful & it sure beats having none.

Maybe the newer ones aren't as tight? Let us know how they fit if you get some.

Good post, I just tried seating one of the Ginex SRP primers I mentioned above in a new Lapua case and then seated a BR4. The Ginex primer did require a little more force. I had not noticed anything unusual in my previously fired cases. I may like them even more now.

The ones I have are nickel plated and they also manufacture an unplated version. Perhaps that comes into play.

I've used both the Ginex large and small rifle primers and they have performed exactly like any standard American brand primer. Buy them and try them, they'll be fine.

I've found even CCIs vary by lot number. All we can do is hope our match ones are consistent. A Brit found Unis Ginex gave him better numbers then CCI BR-2s, but that post was four or five years old. I still have enough CCI and Winchester to have passed when they were available. But I did check reviews.

I've used the Ginex LRP's in the past (4 to 6 yrs ago) and I think they came from Graf's. They were a little tight, especially with the handheld Lee Autoprime, but with my bench mounted RCBS Automatic Priming Tool it was much easier. I also used same data that I had used with CCI primers and had great results - no noticable difference in velocity or accuracy in the hunting rifles I was loading for.

I do wonder how hot the Ginex are compared to say a Win LRP (which tends toward the hotter side) and the CCI 200 (which tends toward the milder side).

I have used about 20k of them in the last few years. I haven't had any issues and did not need to adjust loads from my typical cci primers.
