As a "Boomer" I have it pretty good, in a way. I can afford stuff I never thought I would and I no longer have to deny myself too much. I should mention though, I'm ten years past what might be considered normal retirement age, and I'm still working.
I was on my own at 17, drafted at 19, married at twenty. a father at 23. Bought my first home (a single wide trailer) at 24. My first real house at 34.
I'm sad that young people today can't have the opportunity to live in some of the hovels we lived in. I'm serious when I say that; they can't have the opportunity. They literally cannot, and that is one of the real problems facing them. The other thing is that they don't have the job opportunities (they weren't great but they were productive jobs), and there are additional legions of bloodsuckers looking for a place to latch on when they do get the job. I was able to rent an old house with only 2 days of sawmill wages (one bedroom, one bathroom, wood heat, and the roof leaked). That just isn't possible today. Is that the fault of our generation? Not really, but there is a class of people to whom control and manipulation is their reason for being. They exist in every generation, and we've got our share. GD

I built my own house 7 years ago.... did everything except form and pour the foundation, the drywall and texturing... so yes it can still be done, young people have no skills nor work ethic.
They are mentally weak....

Boomers were the biggest drivers of covid hysteria.... it was on display right here , even after it was proven a hoax

Brother fubar, that's as silly as saying all boomers are spoiled loudmouthed POS's that take for granted the country they inherited and frittered away but refuse to take ownership of that fact.

Nothing is hard and fast in such a sweeping statement, though the majority may fit it.

Hot Damn! I didn't know I had it so good in the 70's or early 80's borrowing money @ 10%, with a required 20% down before the paperwork would even start.

I don't know where the whiners get their figures.

Oh! 1981,,,,,, the mortgage rate went to 18%, easy times for late boomers for sure. Even easier times for older boomers that got farm loans & such with floating interest loans. The whiners,,,,,,,,, no idea how fuqking lame & pitiful they sound.

Brother Gruff,
Yes of course I am speaking of generalities... there are always exceptions, you can't deny the trends though

A few good ones, but yes, for the most part they aren't too sharp. I have a feeling they will be in for a big reality check at some point.

Yes Calvin.... some are solid as they come, I feel the worst for them as they are outnumbered thousand to one...

Wait til all the terrorists Biden has let into the country start exercising their hate. They don't care about Democrats and Republicans. They just want to kill every American.

The elephant in the room, brother fubar. They want everybody else to pay for their free schit. But, you will never catch a single one of them admitting to that. Let them have their socialism and destroy any future they or the rest of the country could ever have. The destruction of freedom and Country they create will be far worse than anything Boomers ever did.

Colorado's naive diatribe proves it. He blames boomers for having what he thinks he's entitled to.

I thought you were smarter than that. I don't think I'm entitled to anything, and I probably have more than you. That doesn't preclude me from speaking up for my peers that I see struggling. I've never seen you post anything as pompous as that reply. Look at the cost of living in relation to generations. The boomers had it easy and still do. When whole generations can maybe barely afford a house when boomers could do that on a single income (without a degree) raising a family then something is way off. The opportunities boomers had no longer exists, it is what it is but then they have the gall to rub it in our faces and then tell us we're at fault for everything and are lazy. Boomers are obsessed with what money they have and it's never enough. You want to talk about a sense of entitlement maybe you should look in the mirror. The reason boomers get so defensive is because they know it's true.

What a load of bs. It wasn't any easier making ends meet in the 70-80's than it is now.

I'd wager that the boomers were/are, on average, more conservative than the generations that have followed. It is more likely the younger voters have tipped the scales to the left than the boomers have changed theirs.

There were always liberals and always politicians trying to buy votes. Not until the last 20 years have they been able to dominate the political scene.

Ribka: I too find it hard to believe that 80% of boomers favor war with Russia and China. Your Faux news poll did not ask that question.

My IQ has nothing to do with it. The facts are that YOUR generation voted for the horrible state of affairs we now endure, Colorado. You think history began with your birth, but you have absolutely no clue. You XYZ-Gen types whine about how boomers created the problems we face. I remind you that we also created the great things you now enjoy. There would be no technology you cling to without us. We invented it.

We also fought and risked our lives to defeat the socialist systems you now vote for. The blame is on your shoulders, bucko.
