I got a keeper yellow cat a couple of weeks ago. I caught some nice channels on chicken livers. One jug line was hung up. I almost wore out jerking on it while trying to not tip over. I had forgotten my life vest that day and almost flipped when it finally came loose. Thought I felt a jerk on the line and stopped pulling and felt nothing. I figured the weight hit a stump. In 20 ft of water and I wasn't looking when the fish got close enough to see the float I was on and the sucker went wild and nearly turned me over before i let him go down several feet.

I knew I'd have to paddle to shore to beach it, but how to do so while holding the line. I got the 10 ft high top
circle hook over the right side, over my legs to the left side tote handle and hooked it. Paddled in to 8 ft of water and stopped with the cat and weight dragging bottom and the cat fighting.

Finally pulled the main line up 5 more feet and got a good bite on it with it held between both sides of my back molars and paddled like he'll trying not to roll over.made it to shallow water and dropped the line, abandoned ship and dragged it up on the beach. Sucker had swallowed a 3-4 lb channel cat and couldn't expell it for the pectoral fins. The smaller cats side fin had poked through the big cats belly.

Seriously though. That's pretty cool. How heavy is the weight?

Bump to the top....I'd be setting wolverine drive traps tomorrow but decided to elk hunt late this year and am headed out tomorrow, so I guess my trapping season will get cut short this year. No biggie.

You shot a Gulo with an Ithaca 37? You may be the biggest stud in the stable! Well done.

Trapped it and killed it with a Ruger single six.
I carry the 37 for ptarmigan.

Same tree, same trap, same Ruger Single Six, the following year. I think I have trapped 4 mature boars and a sow wolverine at that spot.

MB-750's or #9 Alaskans? Please don't tell me a Duke 330.

No BS Beaver Xtremes. Comparable to a MB-750.

Sold it. I get anywhere from $450-$600 for a bigger boar like that.

I have a mid sized sow rugged that the fur buyer didn't want, but have sold the other 8-10 that I have caught.

Are they still used as ruffs on parkas? Gulo's are super cool. I got to see one ONCE and it is burned into my brain. Of course they say we don't have any here but there was at least one.

Day 3, all partial days. Since it's a 2 man crew and moved equipment I every day except for today.

One man crew today. He got knee braces, all purlins on roof plus wind rods in trusses before he could do any more by himself.

34'x84' with 12' side walls.

On a 4' wall.

Living quarters are 24'x56' with a 10' porch which is where the 34' comes from. 34x28' garage with a half bath in one corner of garage.

Sure do. I believe using them for ruffs is the number one use for them.
