Current fav is CFE-223: 63.0 gr + 250 NPT.
Varget and IMR-4064 are also good - just not as fast.

My dad has some loads for his 35Whelen using H4895 and a 250gr bullet, but mostly he runs 200 to 225gr pills with a variety of powders including, IMR 4895, H 4895, BigGame, VARGET, and 4064. There's lots of options out there though.

I've used a lot of IMR4064 with complete satisfaction. And more recently a bunch of RL15. Achieved 2500 fps safely in three different rifles with 22-24" barrels using those powders, under Speer and Hornady 250 gr. bullets.

IMR 4064 (Accurate 4064 is about the same & usually available) is the old standby with 250s since the Whelen was a wildcat. RL15 is unobtanium. PP2000MR is the velocity champ with good accuracy, but it's also hard to find right now. CFE 223 was also fast, but real peaky in my rifle with my components, but may work well in yours.

I start with H-4895 for all weights and have very good accuracy and velocities with it.

I've had good luck with RL-15, RL15.5, MR2000 (fastest for me but I hear CFE-223 is similar), IMR4895.

H4895, Big Game, Varget and RL15 are what I have used most. I always hear great things about IMR 4064 but I have never picked any up.

When I had my Whelen rebored I did extensive load development and range testing, I found that IMR 4064 gave the best accuracy. I was using 225gr. bullets as I felt 250's unnecessary for whitetails, Sierra Game Kings have been my go to 225gr. bullet for years. In recent years I've been using a load from Ken Waters Pet Loads that utilizes a Hornady Inter-lok 200gr. RN bullet and IMR 3031. This load gives the best accuracy ever in my pre'64 M/70, a recovered bullet was perfectly mushroomed and retained 66% of its original weight. It's the only load I use for whitetail hunting these days, easy on the rifle and the shoulder. Accurate and an effective killer.

RL15 and H4895 have worked real well for me over the years in a handful of Whelens with 225 and 250’s. Right now I’ve been using 8208 and 200 TTSXs for 2900 and see no reason to mess with it.

Used to use Varget and RL15 but my new favorites are PP2000 and IMR4064.

My go to was IMR4320, but now use IMR4064. Works well with Speer 225gr flat points.
