Opening day - Towards the end of the day I set up where I could see a lot of country that the elk would pass through on their way towards the ag lands below. About 25 or so elk filed out of the tree line some 330 yards away. They were side hilling their way towards me, so I just let them come. 3 bulls in the group - all young. A spike, a raghorn branch bull and this 5 point. When they were at 250 yards - which is where my rifle is zero'ed - the 5 pt turned broadside and I poked him in the chest. Hit hard and not going anywhere, but not down either, I put a second shot into him and he folded immediately. Kimber Hunter in 6.5CM. 3x9 SWFA MQ. Sierra 140gr spbt.

Agree with Brad. Would make a very nice mount. Congrats. I'm pretty much out of wall space (and wife patience) to have anymore mounts done - so what I did with both this bull and my blacktail is give the cape to my taxidermist. He peels the cape for himself and removes the antlers and cleans up the skull plate for me in return. No muss, no fuss.....

They have such a cool color of their pelt. Congrats again.

Good looking bull "53". I see those 6.5CM's are still getting the job done on elk. Congrats to you!
