A friend brought his over and the firing pin would not hit the # 209 primer at all. He said it was fine when new, but gradually got worse over time. Nothing seems to be binding or gunked up. I've read elsewhere that this has been a problem with the Rossi single-shot break-action cartridge guns as well. Some of the posted remedies include: taking off the hammer extension, changing the mainspring tension, filing the face of the hammer or making a one-piece firing pin.

Any thoughts about solving the problem? Thanks!

Edit: he sorted it out on his own; problem solved.
