Do any of the aficionados know if any of the
modern Sharps reproductions can be made
into a 444 Marlin without extensively and
expensively rebuilding and reworking it ?

Thanks for any suggestions

I have a C. Sharps in .45-70. Excellent quality and very accurate I highly recommend their rifles but as Odonata noted, inexpensive is NOT one of their qualities. However, you won’t have to rebuild anything as they’ll make exactly as you want it.

Yes. That's pretty much what I was thinking.
The only reason for my 444 line of thinking
was that I already have everything to load
that with, and know how to make one
( of the rifles I've had) shoot accurately and
mortally poke a hole in a desired animal.
Not to say there's anything wrong with the
better replicas, they're just too nice to drag
around the briars in the river and creek bottoms
and get all bunged up. Wasn't too awful long
ago that there were a few fair condition replicas
to be had reasonable from those who bought
them after the movie came out and they figured
out the old style guns were heavy and they
would mash a bit harder with the steel butt.

Just a thought though.
Maybe if they knock on the door with that
big check and the cameras and all. Who knows. .

Thanks for the replies
