Looking for a McMillan, Brown, Bansner, etc., for a Fwt 30-06. Decided I think I want to hunt this and want a lighter stock. Let me know what you might have lying around.

With McMillan dropping out of Pre-64 production it has put a serious shortage of stocks. Even Brown Precision seems half defunct judging by the state of their web site.
I wish you luck.

I wish you luck. With that, the prices on used Mcmillans have gone up as well. A word of caution, that the OP probably already knows, in regards to weight. He wants a "lighter" stock, but you have to be diligent in picking one that is going to fill that niche. As the pre 64 fwt wood stock is already pretty light. Depending on wood density or course. I've seen many times where a rifle actually weighs more when putting on a Mcmillan stock. The swirly stocks are pigs and not offered in edge fill, the pre 64 montecarlo pattern is heavier than a factory fwt stock. I also have a supergrade Mcmillan that is heavier than the original wood fwt stock. You are limited to the hunters compact or hunters edge and maybe a couple other choices, if you want to be lighter than a factory wood stock. Then there is the Brown PoundR, but good luck finding one of those right now as well.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I know it's a shot in the dark, but I gotta try.
