Oddball in that it's missing side panel checkering and buttstock checkering is 2pt rather than 3pt.. But K engraving, including on the barrel, fancy wood, pistol grip, correct forearm checkering. Says it dates to 1932 and is in 303.

Looks right from the one picture of half the gun. Interesting caliber and configuration. Wonder if it was a special order gun? Would be interesting to know it's history. Handsome rifle.

Definitely special order. Has initials engraved on the right side through the engraving. W.S.G.
Too bad it's not W.H.G. - that'd be worth lettering.

Says it dates to 1932 and is in 303. Numbers match? Is the WSG nicely done period or aftermarket hack? EG stock on a K ?? Looks legit. Possibly an employee rifle.

The WSG initials isn't as nice as the K engraving.. but it's right across the engraving and doesn't look like it was done aftermarket. That would have been a mess.

I'd like to have a K in 303. I had my K in 300 for several years and never thought about getting it lettered. Some one carved their initials in it, JM, and the style of the carving looked like a cattle brand. I even thought of finding some one to match the style and add a B on the end, that would be my initials, JMB. Cody was at a show and I got the $5 search and low and behold it was bought new by the California Artist Jo Mora in 1929. If I got a rifle like the one above the first thing I'd do is get a search, those initials still might turn out to be someone of interest.
I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

I was talking with Fug, and looked up the 1931 special order options. You could order fancy english walnut ($12). You could order A-3 checkering which didn't include side panels ($7). You could order K style engraving ($12). You could order initials or name engraved on receiver ($5). You could order a pistol grip on a straight frame rifle ($5.50). So was it ordered as a 99E with all of the above options? Or was it ordered as a 99K with solid frame rather than takedown, A-3 rather than A-5 checkering, and initials? Have to letter it to see. I think the 2 things would end up looking exactly alike. Let's see if it'll display a pic of the other side...

So if it was ordered as a 99E with upgrades.. final cost would have been $82.50.
If it was ordered as a 99K with initials, final cost would have been $78.50 to $85 (depending if they credited him for downgrades with solid frame and A-3 checkering).
Not a lot of difference.
