https://www.marlinfirearms.com/s/leverAction-DarkSeries/Anyone else seen this? I guess they have to cater to the tactical crowd, but what a monstrosity. You could not give me one of these except for me to sell to buy a traditional levergun. Just go an ahead and get a AR in a large caliber and save yourself some money.

Not my cup of tea. Maybe the younger 'gamer' people will love it.
If it keeps lever guns in production, I suppose it has some merit.

I find it interesting that they have to bring out the most butt ugly models first. Kids these day all want to feel like they're Rambo with all this weird looking stuff.

That is an abomination, and I am not even a traditionalist when it comes to guns. Give me a modern carbon fiber stock and stainless or cerakote. Is anyone really going to attach a coffee pot and microwave oven to the fore end of their lever gun?

I thought perhaps they might have been after a weight savings with the skeletonized aluminum forestock, but it is only 0.1 lbs lighter than the trapper version in 45-70, which is insignificant (7.0 vs 7.1 lbs). So it really is more the tactical application for mounting accessories. But I'm not bothered they make them. If they can make money selling them, more power to them.

In case nobody got the note, they have traditional 30-30 in the 336 Classic.
Don't like the black one, pick up the more traditional one.
There is more than 1 choice.

There is more than 1 choice. Good point. At least they are making the traditional walnut and blued steel guns too albeit in only three chamberings.

Ruger is doing this for profit. No other reason.
The polymer butt and machined forend cost probably HALF as much money to make and fit to the rifle as a Walnut set. Same with the dull metal finish compared to polished blue.
And yet ,they are selling that steaming pile of dung for the same price as tge walnut andblued guns. Just the thing for tac-tard mellenials who want a "lever gun".
Sad..but PROFITABLE.

Sad..but PROFITABLE. Pretty certain these were being made a few years ago before Ruger took over as well. Nothing new.
