Sometimes it pays to travel alone. No holiday plans with family or friends, so I figured f it, I will spend Thanksgiving in Panama. Visit some friend, casinos, maybe do a little fishing. The best way to travel there that I found is to take a train from Albany to Penn Station, a quick jump on the subway to jfk and a 5 hour flight and presto I'm in my happy place. Train scheduled to leave at 730 so I left at 6 giving myself a extra 50 minutes. I didn't plan on a blizzard on the way. 3" of wet sloppy snow and ice and white out gave me a top speed of 40 mph. Arrive at the station just in time to see my train pulling away. Guy at the front desk says next one is tomorrow at 6 am which isn't going ging to work with a 1 am flight. He says I can drive to Poughkeepsie and take the subway in. Drive another hour and a half in this blizzard only to find out I missed the last one for the night. Son of a bitch. Google maps puts my arrival to jfk at 1220. I've never driven in the city, no idea how to park or anything but what the hell, I traveled this far. Made it to jfk at 1225 found parking and made it through security with 15 minutes to spare before boarding. By 730 I was enjoying breakfast at my favorite place here. Thanks I appreciate it, there's nothing like white knuckle driving when you are missing half of them. I cannot imagine dealing with that situation with a whole family in tow
