I was wondering if anyone could help me tie down the model number and date of manufacture of a six inch barrel, 22 caliber K frame revolver. It looks like a Model 17 to me but there are no model identifiers in the usual spots. Also an approximate market value as I don't want to overpay. Serial number is K 327392, I would rate the condition as very good.

That serial number is listed in the Standard Catalog as being in the range for 1958. The catalog also shows that they started stamping model numbers in 1957 but perhaps they didn't start stamping all models at the same time. Anyway, with no model number it would be a K-22 Masterpiece made in 1958.

S&W revolvers spiked in price the last two years but the market has gone soft this past year so I honestly wouldn't know what to price it at.
