Just got a notice that the ZEV Compensator is on sale for $29.

https://www.zevtechnologies.com/zev-muzzle-device

I've used the ZEV and the Hypertap ($180) and can't tell any difference between the two. So $29 is pretty sweet.

Hello fellas those look great for the price point and one heck of a deal.. I’ve never used one of those although I have used a few like A2 style birdcage and lantac muzzle devices. I was gonna junp in on some as well. Would these do well on a precision 6.5 grendel build?

When I was shooting 3-Gun the Hypertap was the best thing out there. But I put a ZEV on two new builds and can't tell much difference in .223. With a heavier bullet it might be more noticeable. But for the $$$ it's worth a try.

If it's really as good as the Hypertap, that's saying a lot S the HT is as good as it gets in recoil reduction.

For 3-Gun the Hypertap is a better device and more rugged. Typically you dump your rifle muzzle first into a padded 55 gallon drum and run to the next stage. Not something I would do with an open leaf design like the ZEV. Otherwise, it's very effective in taiming muzzle rise for range play. Staingely, it did tighten up groups on a LMT Defender but that probably had more to do with barrel harmonics than anything.

So did it really reduce felt recoil as much as the HT or just reduce muzzle rise?

I'm more interested in recoil but reducing muzzle rise & being able to maintain sight picture as well.

The ZEV is good at controlling muzzle rise.

My experience is the Hypertap is the pinnacle for both felt recoil and muzzle rise. I landed on Hypertap after seeing a lot of video comparisons and talking with other shooters. But every shooter has their favorite.

Agree 100% on the HT, but they are just outrageously expensive but I have bought them as low as $135, but that's very rare.

If the HT ranks at 100, where would you put the Zev at?

But I guess that for $30, it doesn't matter but I need more than 1.

Unless you're shooting them side by side it would be really difficult to tell how much of a difference one makes over the other.

This will go on a meat-and-taters 16" range gun. Usually, I run flash hiders on those, so I think I would be able to tell "some" difference. And for $30.00, it's a good deal.
Appreciate your feedback, STRSWilson.

Bought 2, so we'll see.

Can't hardly buy a birdcage, which is next to useless, for that price.

I haven't looked lately but when I bought my Zev Core Elite a few years back they shipped with a Surefire Warcomp closed tine comp. That gun is by far my smoothist running AR but I don't know how much of that is from the comp.
