A $16 vintage Savage print off of ebay, I think from 1955 based on a document number. And a $13 frame from a thrift store. Together I think it makes a nice 30"x24" picture for the stairwell. Wife even likes the puppies! First In The Field

I'd sweat that print was in my grandfather's house when I was a kid.
Very cool!
And who doesn't like setters?

Interesting. The same art appears two places in the 1955 Savage catalog. There is a 4"x3" black and white version in the upper left hand corner of the inside front cover. On the front cover, in an oval, is a close up of the two setters, somewhat colored. But, both of these are mirror images of what is posted above.

It is very classy indeed. The real deal is having a field bred English Setter to hunt with moving art..mb

There are Savage rifles in some (~3) early National Sportsman Magazines covers. Also prints of the cover pages without the words. You just have to watch for them to turn up on eBay.

The print at that bottom is stamped F-F55, which makes me think the print itself went out in 1955. But they started using these pups in '47 or '48, and they keep showing up in catalogs until 1958. And yes.. they do flip the picture some years. Here's 1949

Wife even likes the puppies! First In The Field I have had one for at least 10 years. It was given to me by a close friend and I had it framed. I am sure mine is a copy.

It is always a pleasure to see your "fat head" in the gun room.

Miss both the head and the gun room.
