Thoughts?

Palmetto State Armory has them on sale for $299. Kinda hard not to buy one at that number...

I like mine. While not as absolutely slim for front pocket carry in slimmer-fitting pants, the sights and 11rnd capacity make it a great alternate to the original LCP.

I consider it my minimum level of defensive daily carry with a spare 12rnd magazine in a Ruger mag-sleeve for my front left pocket.

I know Ruger had some problems originally with the Max and they replaced a lot of slides and barrels. But I don't see much current gripes about it. Seems to feed reliably and is accurate enough for close encounters.

Have you had any "issues" with yours?

No issues so far, but I didn't buy mine right when they were released. I've had a few of the older LCP pistols and they were fine also. Can't say the same for the original Kel-Tec P3AT I had previously.

Best little pocket pistol I have ever come across. Mine works like a champ.

Great pocket pistol.

Works great after a trip back to Ruger, but that’s pretty normal for a Ruger these days.

K1500 - Was yours an intro model or later release?

What did they correct?

I bought an early one and it shot low so I sent it back and I think they replaced the barrel and slide, it shoots great now. I pocket carry it often.

I have the older style single stack, which is perfect for a font pants pocket. Works perfectly, even if its recoil makes it no fund to shoot.

It’s probably a little more than a year old. The barrel looked like a sewer pipe, corroded and scored. No idea how it got that way as it was bought new. They replaced the barrel and slide.

Mine has never malfunctioned, is great to carry, and accurate enough. Took me a while to learn to shoot it with the tiny grip and beefy trigger, but I’ve got it down now. Found an IWB holster that’s secure and rides well for appendix carry. Loose t-shirt and it disappears. If I didn’t have one, I’d order one at $299 in a heartbeat.

That's how I looked at it. I really don't need another .380, but when they're giving them away, why not. Fortunately I've got plenty of .380 ammo to burn though since the girlfriend switched to 9mm.

For the price, why not. You can recover most of that if you want to get rid of it. I bought one because it looked good on paper. But, I learned that accuracy at any kind of distance and shot times were terrible in my hands, and it hurt my trigger finger. I didn't like shooting it, and I got rid of it. I can see it as a last-ditch backup for a CCW person or a plain clothes police officer, but I thought it would be deficient for a primary unless all one cares about (not me) is a 3-3-3 situation against one person. But, as you can see in this thread, others like it, and you might, too.

I ordered two 12 round magazines after talking to a range buddy. The extra length helps control muzzle flip which I believe is much of the recoil issue. Should pick it up for Friday range day so we will see.

My LCP Max shot fine, was easy to shoot and fit easily in a pocket. A problem I had was with both the flimsy Ruger pocket holster and my generic Remora pocket holster the mag release button would not infrequently get pressed in daily carry, releasing the magazine. A different holster might have helped.

The real deal killer tho was when drawn and presented at speed on target, that great front sight wasn’t visible, in my hand the gun pointed naturally muzzle down enough that I couldn’t see the front sight. Only took a moment to correct but I might not have that moment in a real situation.

I dont have the Max model, but have had a standard LCPsince they first came out. I have handled the Max in stores and based solely on how it feels in my hand, if I was in the market for another 380, the Max would likely be the one.
