My grandpa had one of these as his utility and do-all rifle around the farm when I was growing up. I would like to find one like his that is in good useable condition. Also, if anyone wants to chime in that may have knowledge … I’d be curious to know what I should expect to pay for this particular model of rifle in good useable condition if/when I can find one. Thanks!

Lever guns went through the roof in price during COVID and as Marlin went under. I haven’t seen a run of the mill Marlin 30-30 or Winchester 94 30-30 go for less than $650 at the local auction, for over 2 years.
I believe the ADL was a deluxe, checkered version, and the 36 pre dates the 336. (I’m not an expert). The older guns, in deluxe, could easily run $1400 to $1500, maybe even $2000, depending on condition.
There are Marlin guru’s on here who can clarify, or even correct me if I’m off on estimates.

Thanks for the info! I do know his A-DL had no checkering the stock was just plain. Maybe it wasn’t the original stock though? I would think it was but you never know?

Post war Marlin sold model 36's that were a hodgepodge of what ever they had in the bins. I have a model 36 (not for sale) that is an ADL with the non checkered wood. There are a lot of these out there like this. Good luck with your search.
