We are doing exactly the same thing. Probably the most expensive gifts we’ve ever gotten each other. I even liquidated a half dozen guns to help finance it.

P.S. How can you have a heavy barrel .223 for over 25 years and not use it? It really pays to clean out the safe occasionally…I had a 500 Mossberg? Who knew?

The wife tells me she bought herself a Christmas present.
She says it will be surprise when she opens it.
Surprise for me.

some sorel house slippers , buffalo plaid pajamas and a car cover for when it snows and she is at work.

I built her a gaming computer for her b'day that doubled as an Xmas present

last year I got her a rubber mat that was custom fit for her gas stove so she wouldn't have to clean it

I'm romantic like that

Good luck to her, Ed. I had that done a few years ago. I literally could not see to drive. Removed all the cataracts, new lenses installed. Has been a Godsend. She will be amazed.

Got a little bit of fog in the right eye now, and have to go get it flushed. No big deal.

That is a good rule to live by, rost.

Mine will take every knife we have in the kitchen and cut chit on a dinner plate. Dragging the knife's edge across a plate will make the cutting edge duller than the back of the blade in short order. I bought my own kitchen knives and hid them.

I bought two tickets to take her to see Diana Krall in February and three tickets so we could see a highly rated musical stage adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" in a couple of weeks when her mother is here. She is delighted. We both have way too much "stuff" and are more interested in having nice experiences together than in accumulating more stuff to deal with every time we move (which I hope will only be one more time.)
