Was at a used book store with the wife this weekend and I was wanting a good book to read while at the hunting camp. I looked around in their outdoor section and just didn't know what to really look for. So give me a few suggestions on some I should look for next time. Outdoor adventure type stuff. I tryed to find Jim Shockeys new book but they didn't have it. Anyone had a chance to read it yet?

Great book for deer camp is "Shots At Whitetails" by Larry Koller.
For duck camp "De Shootinest Gent'man"by Nash Buckingham.

If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

Gordon MacQuarrie’s books are superb. Best storyteller ever. Ben East’s adventure and survival books are easily the best of their type and belong in any outdoorsman’s library. Used copies of these should be available on Amazon. Thank me later.
Of course you already have JOC’s “The Art of Hunting Big Game in North America “. That should go without saying. 🤔

Can't go wrong with classics: Robert Ruark, Jack Atcheson, et al. Take a flyer once in a while. I read a book a grouse hunter wrote while holed up in the mountains of VA one winter; it was really good.

My avatar is homage to Edward Abbey; you could do worse. Try Stegner's Beyond the Hundredth Meridian. Edward Curtis' biography by Timothy Egan was an engrossing read.

Not hunting / outdoor related, but 2 of Alexandre Dumas' books are well worth reading if you can get through them:
The Three Musketeers
The Count of Monte Cristo
And because they are long & some of the language is old, they take a while to work through, as well.

Hard to beat Wilbur Smith's Courtney Series of novels-- great storytelling with some African outdoor adventure sprinkled in.
