That's a sweet rifle. You did well!! Keep your eye open for 270 wby ammo on the shelves. Some shops I frequent sell older ammo or consignment ammo. Like I told you, I know where 3 shops are right now that have ammo on the shelves. If I had a 270wby, this is some of the ammo I would have snagged at one shop. Your rifle is a 5 digit classic. The classic model 70 Weatherby rifles I've seen, were 6 digit classics. The majority of them were made in the mid to late 90's. One I kick myself in the azz for not buying was a classic stainless 300wby that was made in '98. Others would know better than me though. AK or 79s would be good guys in the know about these particular models. You'll have to let us know how that one shoots. That is a nice rifle.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Thanks BSA, I'll report back if I can find any ammo. No dice finding it locally so far and online prices are sky high. There's a 6 digit stainless classic 300 Weatherby on gunbroker that I'm watching. Don't really need it right now, so probably won't bid. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1023140377

I'm on my 2nd and last rifle just like yours. I bought one from a campfire member and killed a few deer with it. In a moment of insanity, I sold it to another campfire member. After looking for one for a few years, I bought one again. Pretty sure they only made them in 270 and 300 Roy for a couple of years. Nice snag

They were also made in .300 H&H. I bought a new one from CDNN about thirty or more years ago. CDNN may have also stocked the .270 Weatherby and the .300 Weatherby versions. I doubt any of these were made in great numbers.

Holy Hell!!! Wow! What a score, Woodsman. That's a beautiful and unique rifle being that it's chambered in 270 Weatherby. Fantastic cartridge. 130 grain bullets at 3400+ fps will do magical things. Not sure if you reload, but if so, I'd start with IMR-7828. It's consistently given the best combo of accuracy and speed in both 270 Weatherby's I've owned. Good luck with that beauty.
