Lost my mom in '98 to bone cancer. Lost middle little sis to brain cancer in '09. And now, my younger brother to liver/colon cancer today. He lived the last 20-some years eating right. All the natural stuff that is s'posed to prevent that crap, and then this. I always thought that since I was the oldest, it would be me going out first. Especially with my ticker trouble a couple years ago. He was diagnosed just less than a month ago, right after finishing trimming out a big custom house, and his decline was swift. Three weeks ago he would dress and go about his day, albeit with some help. Two weeks ago he needed to use a walker, and set up a bed in the living room to be closer to the bathroom. We had a good visit last Thursday and he was real weak and his voice was real quiet. Saturday night his doc said to get to the ER for pain management. Sunday a bunch of old rodeo pards came by the hospital to see him and it was a great day, but wore him plumb out. Monday another big bunch was there. His woman and me were the last to see him awake. He was real tired so I told him I'd go to the waiting room so he could rest. He said that he felt he could use a little nap. He never woke up again. Early night he had labored breathing and went in to a coma. The doc didn't think he'd make the night, but he's a fighter and passed at 2:30 this afternoon..... Toughest man I'd ever knew, the best bronc rider, and my best friend in life. A guy at my Church is 41, diagnosed earlier this year with Stage 4......Liver and Colon......now in Lung.

Most people don't really want the truth.

I’m truly sorry for your loss! The words you wrote about your brother are a testament to the love you shared and the special bond between brothers. Losing a sibling is a terrible thing and something I wouldn’t wish on anyone especially since it sounds like you guys were close.
I guess if there’s any “bright spot” in all that darkness it’s that your brother didn’t linger and slowly get taken from you. I’ll be keeping you and your family in my prayers…

Dam, hate that C word!!! My mother never drank, never smoked, ate organic food from our own garden, home grown beef, home baked bread, walked 1/2 to 1 mile almost every day! Got breast cancer & had a mastectomy, clear sailing for a year or more, it returned in her bones & we lost her! I've heard we all have it & if we all lived long enough it would take us all. She sure didn't get it from the food she ate or because she was old & frail. Hard to believe they can't find a cure????? Sorry for your loss huntsman it truely is unfair as to who it picks. This sucks, this is a real bummer.
I think, we all have been robbed by cancer. I lost my mom in 1985 to cancer, she was 50 years old. She had 8 siblings, all but one passed from cancer. Must have been something in the water. Thery grew up on an Indian Reservation in Oklahoma. They move to California when she was a young girl. She was next to the youngest of all those kids. She had a younger brother, he was born in California, yet he passed from cancer as well.
Don, I know, how you feel losing your younger brother. I lost mine a few months back. He also lost his life to cancer. It's a rough road to hoe burring your little brother. It was my job to look after him and help out if he needed it. He was able to look after himself, I was always there for him. Yet, when he faced his toughest battel of his life, I couldn't help him. That's lonely sad feeling right in the pit of my gut.
That's enough about me and my family.

Sorry to hear this, lost a few to cancer.
One was an uncle never smoked, an outdoorsmen lived for canoeing, hiking all our lives, got cancer and that was it.
His brother, my dad made it to 96 and had smoked and was a body man all his life and outlived his siblings.
Take comfort in the memories you have, he sounds like a great guy.

I am sorry sir. Cancer took my brother about 12 years ago. Very hard to watch. I have had a fight with prostate cancer that was very aggressive for over a year but Right now I am winning. People tell me they are praying for me. I appreciate it but I ask them to pray for my family if I get worse. I am praying for you and the rest of your brother's family with a tear in my eye right now because I know how it feels.

My condolences also, my wife has been dealing with it for the past 18 months and she went on hospice yesterday ,not sure if she will make to Christmas.
