I have made several horizontal and vertical. 2 I made are in the bedrooms at deer camp. Have a 2 gun over the closet door in my bedroom closet My HDefense shotgun is loaded there. Has been since I lived here.

I’ve made some by taking 1” x 6” oak, using a hole saw to drill 2-1/2” holes, spaced uniformly down the length of the board (centered, as well), then ripping the length of the board to give 2 “rails” that can be affixed to the wall.

When I was in school the standard 7th grade shop project was bookends. Eighth grade was a gun rack.

I made one in 9th grade “shop” class and the sides and drawer parts were from birdseye maple. I still have some of my less expensive guns on it versus in a safe.

Magnetic tool hanger screwed to one side of a 2x2. Then a row of screw-U's on the other side. Stick to side of safe, tool cabinet, file cabinet, etc.
