I had tried a whole gaggle of powders in the old 303 with the Barnes 190s previously and not been particularly satisfied with the results. Runnings recently bought out a local farm store chain, and has been resupplying. LVR was among the powders they stocked on the shelves the other day.

I figured I'd pick up a pound and give it a whirl just for giggles, since I've loaded it to great effect in 30-30 for a friend of mine. Well... color me impressed. Picked up 140fps over any other powder I'd used with the 190s, and shot better groups to boot 😱

1968fps... the absolute fastest group I'd gotten before was 1826, and my best shooting group was doing 1664, and not this good.

I also tried it with a couple other bullets and got considerable velocity gains vs other loads I'd cooked up. 130gr Speer FN, 2234fps vs 2050 before.

It didn't shoot as well as A4064 with 110gr Sierras, but it was 100fps faster.

As a whole, I'm pretty dang pleased with how it turned out. I'll be stocking up on it next time I'm in town.

Good to know. I just picked up a pound without any good reason, and I have an 1895 I've never shot, so maybe I'll put those together and bust some caps.

Mine has an enormous chamber from the shoulder through the throat, so it's always been really slow. This is the first powder I've found that really puts a little pep into it without cratering the bejeezus out of primers or just flinging bullets all over the paper.

I ran this powder thru a couple of bolt guns with good results. Has anyone tried it in a 300 savage?

I use lever lotion in my 30/30, 303 sav, 300 sav, I like it a lot. I think I used it in the 308 Mx also.

I generally avoid ball powders like the plague in anything much bigger than 223, but I just couldn't find any real balance of accuracy and speed with stick powders in this one... it was one or the other.

Very nice groups. I need to check that powder out.
What loads do you like with A4064 in the 303?
I use that powder for other calibers, but haven’t seen any loads for 303.

It shoots well with most bullets I tried, just not very much speed. I just use 30-30 data in the 303, but stay away from the top since the case volume is a little lower with PPU 303 brass.

No problem. I'm a big fan of all the Accurate sticks. They shoot just as well as IMR or Hodgdon powders and cost a bit less. They were even cheaper before big H bought out Western.

2015 and 2495 have gotten me really good groups in the 303 as well. I just get the accuracy with them at low velocities in my rifle.

A2495 with Barnes 190FP.
