I was looking through an old box of paper 10 gauge shells I have and found one with a crack going the whole way around the brass rim. Wish I could show a picture but I can't figure out how to do that from my phone. The crack would be very easy to not notice. What would've happened had I fired this shell? The shell is in great condition otherwise

I may have to shoot this round to answer my question. Apparently nobody has run into something like this before. I did Google it and the only other instance that turned up was also 10 gauge. But the ammo was Federal.

In a clean, smooth chamber I bet nothing out of the ordinary happens. Probably have a little swelling at the break.

Why would your curiosity about this over ride good common sense? The cartridge case integrity has been compromised. In a critical area. Oh well. It's your eyes, and hands, and gun. Hope they all survive the experiment. They might. Good luck.
