Posted this is the hunting rifles section but thinking I may get more responses here in the gunwriters section.
Picked up a few boxes of Sako Super Hammerhead in 30-06 when ammo was scarce and they shot real well for me from an accuracy standpoint. I was looking at picking up some more but see they are now discontinued, but still a few places selling them. Anyone know why they were discontinued? Anyone have any terminal performance anecdotes, or other info?

Sako's website does not list them as discontinued. Did you see it there or on a site you trying to order them from?
Have only seen the field results on one moose, which was taken during a gun writer hunt in Finland hosted by Sako in 2015. They typically hunt moose by driving them, with Norwegian elkhounds, and the guy on the stand to my right, a young Sako employee, got one. The bullet worked fine, expanding well and exiting.
Factory .308 loads also grouped very well in the Sako I was assigned.

Thanks John. It was a website I was looking at ordering from, but like I said, there still a few places that have them. I might snag some more up, they shot very well for me. I am pretty much an exclusive handloader, but always good to have some good factory stuff on hand.

If it's just a website, some often mark a product as "discontinued"--but it doesn't necessarily mean the product is no longer being made. Instead it means the website company has discontinued carrying it, for whatever reason.
