Might have to do that again on Monday.

Calvin, right now get started on a big Shillelagh of the hardest wood you can find. Fit it to your hand and keep it ready. In fewer years than you might imagine dull eyed little slugs in numbers will be coming around. And there will be not a one worthy of your princess. Enjoy these days as you obviously are.

Yeah. She's a good kid. It's Christmas break and we have decent weather. Gonna be some fun king fishing next week as the tides are right for it.

Planted a fair bit of the field next to the house this year. Dogs were out running it today. Right hand side has wheat, oats, peas, and turnips. Coming on okay, now that we have some rain.

Ran out of time yesterday to make a hunt after spending a good while at the range down the road, so I sat on the porch for a while just before dark. Popped a sausage doe from the Dyna-Glo rifle rest that was handy. Perhaps the Christmas lights drew her in? A 77gr TMK pass-through behind the shoulder and the evening was complete.

GW, great pics. Some of those are trophies. What's the story with not shooting them with a gun?

Texas mature bucks look like accountants compared to Iowa mature bucks who look like wrestling dads. Lean and clean vs thick and fat.

For the first time in 20 years, I was honestly wondering if I was going to make it back tonight and not spend the night by my machine. Dug myself out of 8-10 drifts and lost the trail on the way back, due to drifting. Had to cut a new trail through 4 feet of snow. Broke my snowmachine windshield off. I got back to the pickup well after dark. All for empty traps though 5 ptarmigan sacrificed themselves for my salvation…

Holy hell is it pizza and beer time…my arms are absolutely killing me but this Tundra is pretty bad ass despite me being an idiot and stopping where I shouldn’t have.

Pretty funny, we were in a shaker fest yesterday and right when Home Depot finally calls me back we get a keeper on. My little guy (5y/o) did a good job handling the king and I didn’t drop my phone in the ocean while netting the king. Kid is growing up and can get the kings in by himself now.

That is really stressful, I can relate to it, drifting is always an unknown until it happens to you,, glad you made it out of there!
