There are several really good ones. I bought a Recteq and am very pleased. I tried a Weber but couldn't trust it. They took it back.

I do. I make my own smoke tubes from stainless steel mesh and use them in my 4 burner gas grill. Two tubes in series burn for 12 hours.

MAK. made in Oregon. I have had mine for two years, after wearing out a traeger. best for many reasons. searing, direct heat. smoke mode is consistent. does not flare or extinguish without safety alarms going off and auto shutdown cycle.
sturdy and AMERICAN BUILT.
MAK one star general, two star and three star generals are for small, medium, and large size cookers.
Mine is paired with a PK charcoal, and a Weber Q for quick cooking hot dogs and fish.
take on the world.

I have (3) a Z-Grill, Pit Boss and a Green Mountain, they all work, they all have their pros and cons , but I wouldn’t consider any if them the “best”, to get the “best” ya need to spend more than $400-700 .

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Give a man a welfare check, a forty ounce malt liquor, a crack pipe, an Obama phone, free health insurance. and some Air Jordan's and he votes Democrat for a lifetime.

Have a RECTEQ 590 and have used it three days a week for the last three years. Best investment I ever made in a pellet grill/smoker. Best warranty and customer service in the pellet grill business.

We wore out a traeger. Bought another Traeger and it wasn't quite as good as the first traeger. Switched to Green Mountain. Couple things we liked, but it didn't last all that long. Switched to Camp Chef which is what we have now. Had it about 1.5 years. Already losing a ton of paint etc. Not been pleased with it.
Probably going to buy a yoder next. Hoping it will be the last for a long time.

My neighbor recommended that model to me, as I just wore out my Camp Chef. Heard great things about RecTeq's support as well.

No love for a Fast Eddy?
I haven’t owned one yet, but my research indicates quality is gonna cost much more than what is available at a box store.
Yoder, MAK, Cookshack (Fast Eddy), several good made in the USA units out there.

I've had a Green Mtn for 5 or 6 years. The paint and metal are in excellent condition. I've had some electrical problems, all in the wire connector block. They sent me a new one even though it's out of warranty. I had to replace the auger motor after about 3 or 4 years. It's an easy task. The fan on the motor broke but they said it's not needed. They just put it there so you can see if the auger's turning. It doesn't cool anything. Their customer service is very good. I don't have the wifi version. They didn't have it when I bought it and I wouldn't get it now. I can just look out the window and see the panel to see what it's doing.
I also got an insulated blanket for it. That really helps in cold weather. It saves a lot of pellets.

So why so many folks on the competition circuit use them? because they don't have a fuggin' clue how good "Real" Barbeque is when cooked on a stick burner with fresh cut green wood... and neither do half the fuggin' judges anymore!...

Probably going to buy a yoder next. Hoping it will be the last for a long time. I've had a Yoder 640 pellet grill for close to ten years and use it 6-10 times a month. It's held up great with the only problems having been a thermocouple I had to replace a couple of years ago and and ignitor that failed about 5 year ago. Both were an easy inexpensive fix. This thing will outlast me, my kids, and probably my grandkidsu. They're not cheap but......you get what you pay for. Buy once, cry once.

Yoder was an oil field company in Kansas that started making grills during an oil bust as a way to keep His crew employed. Oil went back to a boom and they kept on making grills. Pretty sure they opened up a retail store in Wichita a few years ago.
