I just purchased a first gen remington sendero in 300 win mag. I do not intend to hunt with the rifle but would like to get it set up to shoot paper and steel out to 500 yards. I know it is capable of much more but I do not have access to any place to shoot farther than that. I plan on loading RL22 with either the 180 grain accubonds I currently have or trying either 178 or 200 grain ELD-x bullets in it. It currently has a standard Leupold mount on it but no scope. I am trying to decide if a fixed 10x, 12x or higher magnification SWFA is the right choice or if I should be looking at something in the 18, 20 or 24 power range on the high end for more precise aiming. Also, I am not married to the Leupold mount on it so any mount/ring recommendations are welcome as well. Budget for scope would be $500-600 and I have no issue with a used optic. Thanks.

If not hunting…..your power choice is pretty much only limited by your checkbook! If for hunting out to the 500 yards mentioned……10 to a maximum of 15 on the high end will serve you well!
Many of our scope purchases have been used scopes……provided that they are from a manufacturer offering lifetime warranty! Your Leupold base/rings should be fine. memtb

I personally have never used one but if you watch YouTube at all the Arken seems like a really good scope for the money. Edk

At $600 and 500 yards, I’d look at used Leupolds. I mostly have Leupolds style bases and rings and I find no fault in them. My 300 Win 700 Remington is capable of < 1 MOA loads, some around 1/2 MOA. I think you’ll like your 700.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally
