Not that old - but I used to know my way with a slide-rule.

No it's not BS. Japanese gov't release on covid vaccines. and any other number of sources you'd car to look at. Memes are fun but they are by no means facts.

Some people remember black and white tv, I also remember black and white computers screens.

A FORTRAN computer programming course in 1971-1972 was one of the most frustrating courses that I ever took. A tiny syntax mistake and you end up with 50 pages with single number printed on each.

That was when I truly realized how stupid computers are.

Yep, spending all night at the computer center at Auburn having the 360 repeatedly kick out a stack of punch cards until I finally found the one incorrectly punched card taught me the definition of 'a bug in the program' the hard way.

Debug trace was your friend. Fortran IV circa 1968.

First learned Fortran II circa 1963, on an IBM 1604, had 16K memory IIRC.

How about Commodore Computers with the Cassette Tape for the Memory.
We did not even have that just knew a person that did have one.

My very 1st Computer had Windows 98
Before that all I had was a Calculator.

Yep. I was a programmer (among other job titles) for 40 years and the damn things did exactly what you told them to do, not what you meant them to do.

But we've gone beyond that. Now AI tells you what you want to do....

At the computer lab at Ole Miss we were allowed one “run” per day. The computer would read only as far as the first mistake. So…..if you had two mistakes in a 1 1/2” stack of cards, the computer got to the first mistake and spit out the whole stack. Crap 😡After you corrected that mistake, the next day it would read up to the second mistake and spit out the stack. Dammit 🤬. Finally, after a process lasting several days, it might run all the way through AND print in the format you wanted.

The stupid computer is only as smart as the nut typing the code.

Y'all the three of you need to read what you write before you post. Your arguing with yourselves.
