Gents Wondering if anyone is using Varget in .22-250 with 50 to 55 grain Nosler Varmagdedon bullets. Flat base pills seem to shoot better for me at 100 yards. The rifle is a Ruger No.1V. Thank you in advance for your time, help and consideration. Semper Fidelis Soup

I tried Varget but H380 worked better for me. A lot better groups with H 380. Varget groups were 1 1/2 at best, that is unacceptable for me. H 380 will clover leaf 55 grn. V max.

Those Varmageddon bullets shoot very well in my 1V in fact been trying to burn up my last 4 pounds of Varget in that rifle since its the only thing that sh*t seems to work in. Either of the 4895’s and H380 give more impressive results plus they don’t completely carbon foul the barrel in under 50 rounds like that Vargay.

The Battle of the Bulge started Saturday in 1944----Lest we forget !!! I'd be using H4895, H380, and even Big Game before looking at Varget. Nosler doesn't even list V in the online data. That should tell you something. My buddies rifle (that I load for) shot the 50gr Varmageddon the best with H380, just as an example. YMMV..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Varget works wonders for heavy bullets but for the lighter bullets, I go with H380.

Benchmark and 50 grain v-max’s,
The proverbial cloverleaf.
Never tried Varget in that cartridge.

55 gr Nosler Ballsitic Tips with a max load of Varget was the best accuracy load I ever found in my Cooper .22-250 Varminter....3/8" 5 shot 100 yard groups. Finally shot the barrel out and rebarreled it to a .fast twist 22 BR.

I shoot different rifles than yours but in .22-250. I shoot 50 gr noslers and blitzking. Varget did ok and check out several other powder that were better for me. 8208 did great and CFE223 is what I use most now.

Following I've loaded 22-250 for years mainly 380 and 55 gr V max / ballistic tips. Picked up a 788 last week in 22-250 and mounted a 4-12 leupold I picked up here. Need to work up a load for it

Nice looking 788. I'll bet it shoots great.

Did you look at the Hodgen data the maker of Varget or Berger reloading data that should tell you something. Nosler does list Varget just not heavier than 40 that doesn't mean it won't work.

Varget is my go to powder for my REM 700SF? 22-250 with 50 and 55 Vmaxs. Meters good through my Lyman powder measure and groups are under an inch at 200. Coyotes don’t like it.

39.5 grains of Varget and a 40 grain BT shoot like a laser out to 300 yards in the 22-250, and give a coyote a DRT dirt nap. H380 and a 52 grain Speer HP is also a good combo.

G'Day Soup, I have two powders I've found very handy in my 22/250. Varget and 8208. I'm getting around 3,700 out of a 24inch barrel and 55gn Vmax. My load is 36.5gn Varget with Hornady brass and a CCI LR primer. Obviously working up to that is always a good idea. Cheers, John

I have several 22-250's, both sporter weight and varmint. (its one of my favorite cartridges) and Varget is absolutely one of the best powders available for all bullet weights. Another superb 22-250 powder is IMR4064 which I would also recommend.
