You want to be around long enough to be a burden and cash sapping responsibility for your loved ones?

Well, not if you put it like that. I would however say many times perspective matters from both sides.

I want to live for as long as I enjoy living, and die the moment I stop enjoying life. I've spent too much time visiting folks in nursing homes to want to live too long.

As long as I am self reliant. I have zero desire to be anyone’s burden. Unfortunately we don’t always get what we want.

I’m not interested in any (soon to be) dirt nap. Too much fun with the grandkids.

Some of us greedy boomers have it set up that we will leave our children and grandchildren quite well off - and have sufficient resources and foresight to provide for our own needs no matter what until then.

I want to live as long as possible baring severe mental or physical problems.

I love being alive, the time spent with my family and pursuing hobbies, and thinking of things that I look forward to doing down the road or in retirement.

We would all like more money but besides more money and still having to punch a time clock for another dozen years there isn’t much that I’d change.

I'm shooting for 114 so my wife and I can celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. Of course, when I told her that, she said, "You wouldn't really do that to me, would you?"

Seriously, I'm hoping to get to about 95, 20 more years, as long as I can still hunt and fish, be somewhat productive and my wife and kids and grandkids enjoy having me around.

My grandmother lived a very productive life right up to the end at 95. My 81 year old mother in law still goes to work every day. The trick is to just not back off.

My wife is 5 years younger and attractive.
I am 72.
I don't know how much longer I can keep it up.

When I can't wipe my own a$$ and feed and clean myself I'm ready to go. Dad passed away from Parkinson's last year , last 2 + years mom took care of him and we spent 2 years expecting that phone call at any time. No way to go.

Couldn't have said it better myself. My dad is 88, in a memory care facility. Let's just say that's not really living IMO, and want no part of it personally. Love seeing my dad, hate going in there.

That's a different question. I don't want to be a burden but I do want to live as close to forever as possible. Why? 1) The stick: I've helped enough things die ... not one bit of that looks pleasant so I want to put that off as long as possible. 2) The carrot(s): I'm really curious just how [bleep] up this world truly gets. In this case, the only way to watch the train wreck is to ride the train. 3) There are still fish I haven't caught.
