270win 130sp what's your thoughts on using 6.5 with hornandy spirepoints. Got two pounds to use up.

Should work. Personally, I prefer something a tad slower burning, such as H4831.

Go to the Hodgdon site. They list Staball and the 130-grain S.P. Looks like a good combo. Worth a try.

Give it a try. Can't go wrong if you have it on hand.

I've used it with other 130gr bullets and give good accuracy and speed. Good powder and available, for now.

It doesn't matter how fast you miss.

I get great accuracy and speed in my pre 64 M70 std. with 130 gr. Sierras and Hornady sst's. Went a couple grains higher than listed in Hodgdens Annual Reloading guide.

Works well in my 6 creed with 105 or 109 burgers. I got a bunch when you couldn't get h4350 and haven't looked back.

I haven't tried it in a 270win, but it works well for me in 6.5 CM, 7x57, 280AckImp, and 338-06.

84, what’s your combo for the 338-06?

Might have to try that myself. Have an alternative for H 380 loads... with a little temp stability thrown in...

So far I've only tried it with the 225gr Speer BTSP. I don't remember the exact powder charge I landed on but it printed 4 under ¾ inch and gave an avg vel of 2653fps from my 22in bl. I found the data on the Hodgdon Data Center listed with a 225gr Hornady SP and used that as my starting point. I was using 1x 30-06 resized and Rem 9½ primers.

In my uses, I have found that the 225 gr BTSP Speer or Hornady, will accomplish anything you want to accomplish in the lower 48 in a 338/06. And it IS a step up from the 30/06.
