Saw a picture on the net of a Guide Gun that was trimmed to just over 16" Wow dose it look cool!
So, I decided to trim my XLR to 17". It's at the gun smiths now. Can't wait to get 'er back.
Should be ideal for brush hunting in western Oregon.

I don't have a digital camera, so am unable to post pictures. There's pictures on Pancho Kelly's Lever guns, of the 16" guide gun. Am thinking mine will be even better looking with the pistol grip and lam. stock. (grin) Can't wait to get 'er home!

I had my XLR cut to 20" and the balance feels better than it did with the barrel at 24". Your rifle, but the 17" might be a little short - 18-20 gives a good compromise. Also, I left the sights off, because I was only going to use a scope with the one I have.

Once had a 94 trapper with a 16" barrel. It felt really good to me. Also had a timber carbine w/ pistol grip. Am thinking the 17" XLR will give me the best "feel" of both rifles.
Hope my "theory" is correct!
