Nice group. I will take #5, but if spoken for #1 will do. Which one was the most difficult to find? GW

That's a fun day of shooting right there, other than the 308 💀 I bet that 22-250 is a riot 👍

Great condition on that one Rory. I remember asking Loggah to sell me an early 30-30 1899 with that CD style of pistol grip at the first Fest. He laughed and passed on my offer.

Offer up a few more details that rifle pls.

I'm surprised to see a fluted comb on #5.

Still confuses me about the 308 kicking hard. I shot with a 68 year old friend yesterday. I had a 99F and he brought his Remington 700 ( both in 308 ). We each shot 40 rounds with no problems.

Shows up on some of the special order 1899's.

This is an 1899A SR: letters as made in 1905, pistol grip, A5 checkering, thick rubber buttplate, Fancy English walnut stock, and oil finish.

Rifle is nicer than the picture shows, but does have one small wood repair (probably a stupid receiver sight). I love it tho!

I'm recoil shy to begin with these days (got a bad neck) and as much as I love my 99s the stock on them is a recoil amplifier to me. A 99 in 300 is right at the upper level of my comfort limit. I shot one in 308, and having done it I know I'll never own one.

I sold off all my heavier kickers after the neck started really bothering me several years ago, aside from a slug gun. That was a necessary evil, but now that rifles are deer legal here I hope to never pull the trigger on another slug for the rest of my days.

I have a 308 like the one Rory has above. Even with the brass crescent butt plate I don't notice it being brutal.

And that is a great grouping. Makes me envious....

That's the first thought...

But there's no studs in the stock. Never had them. 99CD's always had sling studs, 99C's didn't until the 99CD's were discontinued.

Appears to be a 99C in an upgraded stock.

I wonder if it is factory. Have you checked the assembly numbers?

None on the forearm, didn't pull the buttstock to see if the code there matched the receiver.

I think this is a factory "parts gun" or possibly special order 99C made up out of leftover parts when they discontinued the 22-250's and 99CD's in 1980. The fit is very good, and the buttstock checkering matches 1980 99CD checkering.

I think that is the case with this rifle.
