This year I loaded some old Remington Core Lokts (red box) for my 336 in 35 Remington using LVR @ just over 2200 FPS. Shot a decent buck at about 40 yards as he was quartering away. Hit high on the shoulder & exited the front edge of the far shoulder. He dropped right there & made a couple of feeble kicks before he was done. I was surprised to find after processing that no bone other than ribs were hit.
I was able to recover the bullet from the ground several yards beyond where it hit the deer. It weighs 161 grains even after hitting the ground. I was shooting down at the deer from an elevated stand.
Can't ask for more than this.

I've used them and they are a great bullet. A shame we can't get them as components and load them anymore.

The 200 grain RN at 35 Rem velocities has always been a reliable performer

Wow you were able to find a bullet that exited? That's a hard task. Congrats on the buck.

I love those 35 caliber 200 RN cor lokt's. Got a fair amount of them left yet. I run them 2325-2350 out of a 760. Shot a buck the other yr well over 100 yds in the woods. I got 132 steps to him IIRC. He pretty much stiffened up for 5 seconds or so where he stood when hit, then rolled down hill.

Love the 35 Rem. Well hit deer drop or get a very short distance so far, and minimal meat loss in all cases no matter where I've hit them. Major bone or not.

Old reliable is what that bullet is. First deer I ever shot with a 35 Rem was this bullet. Got a few left but as said wish we could get more.

That's the only bullet I use in my .35's . I bought a good supply the last time Remington put them out but I also have a slew of the older ones . I cant tell a difference in old and new but some claim the older ones are better. The deer don't seem to be able to tell the difference.

i use a 35/30-30 (JES Reboring) with a 200gr RCBS FNGC. that 200gr kills deer with no blood shot meat.

i have had three Handi Rifles in 45-70. i gave up the one to help pay for my divorce lawyer. i gave the second 45-70 to my friend's boy. the last was "took" from me by my oldest son.

i guess the shooting gods won't let me have one.

I'd like to be able to buy more of them. They do that bullet real well. Taken a few deer with that bullet and it's always made for an excellent hunting bullet in a 35 Rem.

The Remington ammo loaded for the new 360 BH has the 200gr. RNCL loaded in it. I'm hoping to use it to the same success in Miss. during the January primitive season.

I really like my H&R 45-70. I had one some years ago and regretted selling it

the first one had some nice wood, 2nd one was plain jane and 3rd was black "plastic" stock.

I think those Core-Lokt bullets are as good as any.

Wouldn't say I have a slew of them by my standards, but without going down in my reloading room and counting them up I got somewhere between 400-500. Glad to have them. Wouldn't bother me a bit to have plenty more. They all work, but not a better 35 caliber bullet made IMO for woods ranges.

Has anyone used the FTX in 35 Remington on deer? I've taken 1 buck with my Marlin 336 using corelokts but i'm getting very thin on those bullets. The buck went about 15 feet before giving it up. I hope the FTX will perform as well. I see those for sale from time to time.

16 of those old boxes is a slew plus 5 of the 100 pc bags of the new ones from Graf last time they had them. I also bought 400 of the 200g CLSP for use in the BLR in .358 . I normally use the Speer 180 in the .358 but the 200 g CLSP works great too with just a hair less powder.

Yeah I have and they work great. Accurate, good expansion all you could ask for.

Yes 336 XLR 30-30 and 336 SS LTD in 35. Both are good deer killers.

The new Core Lokts don't have the scallops anymore. For SHAME Remington! Those were what made the round nose Core Lokt such a stellar performer. Nice even expansion. The perfect mushroom.
Now, it's just another soft point...

Have you tried them in a jug test to see if they expand the same?
