Have an RS 1.2 FFP/Mil on order.

Won't claim to know much about them. I think it is a very well designed reticle, on paper at least, and from what I read that model is LOW built, so figured I'd give one a try.

Not a fan of FFP but they make it work better than most and the scopes track like they have AESA radars.

Close range focus is much better than most so they make a great high end rimfire option.

Direct to consumer gets the best scope LOW can make at a good price.

I see they're based not terribly far from you. Do you know the owners?

Yes, pretty well.

They are all shooters and hunters.

Really a big fan of their binos. Prefer the 18X56mm to my old set of Swaro SLC 15X56mm.

I prefer 2nd FP for most things scope but if one wants FFP they do it better than most. The RS3.2 is hard not to like for many reasons.

I haven't fully perused their product line; I'll have to take a look at their binos. Might be in the market for a different spotter, but generally like to look through those first. Do they have a retail location in WY?

A friend sent me a pic of the RS 1.2 Mil reticle, and I liked it well enough that I orded one before really looking too far into the company. Will knock around with one, or more if I like it well enough, this spring and summer and see how it goes.

Their new headquarters in Lander has a nice show room with views from 5 yds to 50 miles.

The Maven spotters are solid. Have an 80mm. It will stand up against anything but the min 25X requires a skilled user.

RS 1.2 FFP/Mil arrived Friday. Noon yesterday I mounted it, did a quick sighted in, set hard stop at 100 yards, set 0 at 200 yards, quickly dialed/shot 100, 200, 300, then hunted it until dark. Well designed scope, sighting/dialing adjustments were exactly as expected, good FFP hunting reticle, glass seemed really good. Need to spend a lot more time with it before I can say much but there's a lot I like about it from the little time I've spent with it.

Something that I didn't expect and haven't experienced before...the adjustment housing size where the elevation/windage turrets meet sit's well below the scope's tube. It's beefy and substantial. I initially planned on putting it on an Area419 Tikka 20 MOA rail with APA 30mm lows (.75") with the barreled action in a Stocky's Tikka sporter grip Nextgen stock. The turret housing is big enough that it killed that plan. The scope couldn't sit in the rings as the housing sat flat on the rail before contacting the rings. I didn't try .82" Seekins, just played musical mounts and used UM 30mm lows, which put it a bit higher so I played musical stocks (moved to a Stocky's Tikka VG) to get the cheek weld I wanted. If you're planning to mount it really low on a rail be aware of this.

John, were you involved in some of the custom etched turrets?

Seems I recall a podcast that mentioned that Wyoming Arms designed the elevation turrets on some of their models?

A few buddies have the bigger ones on their 257 and 300 bees, the CRS.2 - 4-16X44 SFP

I moved to Lander WY 5 weeks ago. I saw a nice new building with the name MAVEN on the front. It range a bell but I couldn’t place it. Then when I looked the company up I remembered they were a new optics company.

I haven’t stopped by yet but a local outfitter store, Wind River Outdoors has a display of their stuff. When I get a chance I’ll check them out in person. I’m not sure what processes are handled in that facility. It’s just nice to see a new company like Maven.

On their website:

Where are they built?

We use premium Japanese components for S, B, and RS Series optics. The S Series and B Series are assembled in a military standard (MIL-SPEC) facility in San Diego, and are then shipped to our headquarters in Lander, Wyoming where we inspect and test for quality assurance. The RS Series is assembled in Japan, and the C Series are assembled in the Philippines. Once assembled, they are shipped to our headquarters where each batch is sample-tested for quality assurance.
