What year did the Model 70 come factory drilled and tapped? Another question that I have is on aluminum floor plate. I have one that is stamped Super Grade for a Model 70 and when were they produced? I know what they were put on but were they Pre-64 or Post-64? Thanks and Merry Christmas!

[s][/s]I will try to help but we need more information on your question because I think you are mixing many models together. I will answer the simpler ones.

Drilled and tapped for a scope on both the front and rear bridge are considered transition models and started around 1948. If you are still talking about pre 64 the aluminum floor plates were only on the featherweights I think started around 1954. The super grade marking is a totally different model but assuming it is aluminum it would have been a super grade featherweight but there are post 64 versions of this as well. I am out of town and away from my book so can’t quote anymore specifics and may be a little off from my memory.

Pictures would help or elaborate on what other questions you have.

Yes the Pre 64s. Were they made in several different lengths? I can measure this length if you need it. I have a Super Grade .220 Swift and I know it is steel because it is a standard barrel and not FWT. I bought this aluminum floor plate from my Brother-in-law a while back and need to know if it is a Pre 64 or a Post 64. Thanks

Sorry I misspoke featherweight began in 1952 not 1954.

You may have to post a picture and I am sure someone would be able to tell you if it is post or pre 64.

The pre-64 plates feature the characteristic circular machining marks
